AXON Announce New
Synapse HD Converter Cards
Our Netherlands based
supplier AXON DIGITAL DESIGN B.V. first showed their new Synapse card based range
of broadcast-quality High Definition up-,
down-, cross
and standards format converters in prototype format at NAB this year. Now
they are to be formally launched, in fully deliverable form, at IBC 2006.
These converters are
based on industry recognized Teranex algorithms
making the
standards converters the alternative
for the most quality conscious customers. All modules are hot swappable, fully redundant
powered and
may be optionally fitted with direct to fibre.

The
new products include processing modules for
a wide range of SD and HD format conversion applications. Modules are available
for broadcast quality SD and
HD 50Hz
to/from 59.94Hz
conversion as
well as SD to/from HD conversion and
conversion between a variety of HD formats. Converters can optionally be equipped
with advanced noise reduction thus allowing users to generate
HD content from a non-ideal source.
All converters are available with full preset-based audio shuffling capabilities.
Indicative of the quality and performance
of the new products was the award given to the HSU20/21 converters at NAB 2006.
An independent group of anonymous judges, all active in post-production, network
and satellite industries, acknowledged the HSU20/21 up converter based on Teranex®
algorithms for its multi-purpose ingenuity.
